The three sisters, heartandsoulofchange.com, pcoms.com, and betteroutcomesnow.com are now at one home: betteroutcomesnow.com. Information about PCOMS and BON is now consolidated into one comprehensive website. The Heart and Soul of Change Project Member Site is still functional but only for a while longer. The webinars are now freely available at “Resources”on the main menu to everyone and the client videos will only be available to those who subscribe to Better Outcomes Now. The free webinars are also available at the Better Outcomes Now YouTube Channel.

Please join me in welcoming our new Certified Trainers: Crystal Petryk works for the Saskatchewan Health Authority and is part of the very successful PCOMS and BON implementation led by Ruth Mireau. Annette El-agroudi works for Borgestadklinikken in Skien, Norway. She co-led a recent Training of Trainers Conference in Oslo and has been instrumental to PCOMS implementation at Borgestadklinikken. Check out the entire BON and PCOMS team here.
Dr. Jacqueline Sparks and I just published an article in the journal, Family Process that describes how PCOMS evolved from and is congruent with the MRI, solution focused, and collaborative, language systems camps. Our article discusses how this legacy, the common factors, and a desire to privilege clients formed the foundation of PCOMS and distinguishes it from other purely measurement based ways of monitoring outcome. Email barrylduncan@comcast.net for a copy.
The Chinese PCOMS RCT was just accepted by the Journal of Counseling Psychology! Thanks to our Chinese collaborator and principal investigator, Zhuang She and to Dr. Jeff Reese for his statistical expertise. Besides the strong findings for PCOMS, it provided an opportunity to address the non-findings of the PCOMS trials done in Europe. They are plagued by non-adherence and a substantial number of therapists didn’t administer the measures and/or said they never discussed the results with clients. Without ongoing follow up and use of the data to demonstrate to therapists that PCOMS can improve their work, it will likely fall flat. Email barrylduncan@comcast.net for a prepublication copy.
Finally, Dr. Sparks and I are in the final stages of the new PCOMS manual. It offers a comprehensive training tool, integrated with the eLearning resources from this site, for doing and implementing PCOMS and BON.
